Message from the CEO

Dear Readers,

I recently had the privilege of participating in the MI High School Cyber Summit, an important event organized by the State of Michigan’s Tech Department. Held at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan, the summit convened industry experts, government leaders, and over 500 students from across Michigan. Witnessing the state's commitment to cybersecurity, evident in its national leadership in policy and best practices discussions, was remarkable. I am proud to have founded a penetration testing company in this great state, which shows such a keen interest in the field.

The discussions, alongside seasoned professionals like Betsy Freeman (Betsy Freeman CEO & Founder Radius Advisory Group, LLC), Laura Clark (Chief Information Officer State of Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget), Afia Phillips (VP of Information Security Little Caesars), and Natasha Young (WomSA Training Coordinator & Cybersecurity Engineer Ford), were rich in content and perspective. We delved into the intricacies of hacking, CTFs, and bug bounties, addressing the keen inquiries of over 500 students. Their questions about career paths, internships, and the cybersecurity landscape were reflective of a deep-seated interest and understanding of the field. A special thank you to the Michigan Council of Women in Technology and other sponsors for orchestrating such a meaningful event. These platforms are essential in nurturing and guiding the bright minds who will shape our digital future.

To the aspiring cybersecurity experts I met: your enthusiasm is the driving force behind our industry's evolution. Many of you have already connected with me directly on LinkedIn, Twitter, or Discord. I look forward to seeing many of you at #misecCON on November 16th, where we are hosting the official conference Capture The Flag (CTF) competition as CTF313

Let’s continue to foster these valuable discussions and collaboratively strengthen our cybersecurity community.
